Smash Cars (PS2)
Smash Cars is an RC racing game similar to ReVolt but with better graphics and more modes of play. The game lets you "trick" as well as race, so that you can play the game sort of like a RC racer freestyle trick-oriented game or as a racing game. The models on the cars looked great and the environments played a big part in the game too. People walking by could kick your car or a dog my try to eat it. The graphics were very well done. This game should be out in July 2003.
This is a third person action game that reminded me of the old Tron Discs game, where you shoot and bounce your shots off walls and such to try and hit targets at the right angle. You jump around on various platforms and try and shoot robots and turrets and such and make your way through a dungeon of sorts. This game has a lot of action, but the nature of the different rooms you go through and how each one requires different tactics to get through it gives the game a bit of a puzzle game feel. The graphics for DroneZ were quite excellent, vibrant and full of color. This game should be out in July 2003.
Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans (XBOX)
This game looked to be a first person shooter with an interesting twist that you get to play as various monsters, such as a vampire. You can play as six different characters and find out the story of the game from six different points of view. The version that was shown at E3 was somewhat on the difficult side to play, but the controls felt natural and once the game balance has been tweaked it should be a find addition to the first person shooter genre for the Xbox. This game was still fairly early in development and will not be out until Q4 or possibly in 2004.
