Russobit-M

Russian developers are really coming into their own and given the sheer energy contained in the products that Russobit-M was showing off, I think that our friends across the Bearing Straight are going to be generating some major buzz over the next year. While they had a whole bunch of games on display, Russobit-M directed my attention towards two specifically, Kreed and Xenus. Both games are first-person shooters but that is really where the similarity ends.

Kreed (PC)
Kreed is an FPS that has a pretty original setting, a series of starships caught in the pull of a black hole. The protagonist must do what ever he can to escape this prison that is heavily populated by hostile beings. From a visual standpoint Kreed is pretty great, skeletal animation, a detailed physics model and well done explosion and dynamic lighting effects that are well used and not overdone. Also the weapons that make up the arsenal at your disposal are just nasty, chain guns, grenades, rocket launchers, all of the heavy stuff that made games like Doom 2, Duke Nukem and Unreal so much fun. As it stands now the game will feature the full array of multiplayer modes we’ve come to expect theses days, DM, CTF and a third mode called Assault.
