Man, so many old games. I'm going to say my favorite old school games are those on the N64 since I played that system the most when I was young. I think most people remember games when they had the most time to play them. For me it was in 1996 when I was 13 years old. I remember playing Mario 64 to death, Goldeneye 007, Banjo & Kazooie, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 64 to name a few.
Those would have to be my favorites, but Goldeneye 007 takes the cake. I still go back and play that with my friends, it doesn't get any better! I guess I should feel old now. hahaha

| The N64 was my favorite old school gaming system, followed by the SNES. I'm a big fan of the Zelda series on both systems. Goldeneye was probably one of my top few favorites on the N64. that list also includes Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Winback: Covert Operations and my all time personal favorite.....PERFECT DARK!! I don't care what anyone says this game was the shit. Goldeneye led the way for this title, but RARE hit the bulls-eye with this one. |

| I agree, Perfect Dark kicks A$$. The Laptop gun was shit. Man, thanks for making me go play it again :-( I also loved the Zelda games for both the SNES and N64. And I agree that Turok was amazing (kind of creepy & Hard, both 1 & 2) and Winback was a sweet game. What did you think of the 2nd Winback? |

One of my favorite systems was the Panasonic 3DO, 2 reasons...
1. I was the only one stupid enough to pay $699 for a game console in 1994 2. It had some truly visionary games like Wing Commander and Road Rash
And perhaps the best game system peripheral EVER - the Dreamcast VMU, which was not only a memory card but also had a screen for PRIVATE play selection in NFL games and you could even pop it out of the controller and take it with you and play mini-GBA-style games. VMU + first ever console modem makes Dreamcast the most visionary game system EVER. |

| I agree, I loved the Dreamcast, it's a shame it never caught on and was relatively too expensive for its time. Man, the VMU's were sweet, and Jet Grind Radio was original as hell. Not to mention a ton of of other great games like Grandia II and Crazy Taxi. Going online for the 1st time to play against others with a game consol was mind blowing, hahaha. I still have mine and occasionally hook it up. |

Winback 2 held none of the glory from the first one. 'cept maybe the graphics. I have the sequel for Xbox. I hated having to play each mission twice, even if it was from two different perspectives. That just wasn't fun. Had they stuck to the original formula and maybe added some more guns or an actual co-op mode it would of been cooler. |

Goldeneye beats Perfect Dark anyday.... sorry to burst your bubble, but 4-player proximity mines in the Stack is unbeatable!
As far as systems are concerned, the SNES offers the most complete library. From 2-D side-scrollers, revolutionary (at the time) RPGs, fighting games, sports, action/adventure... it had it all. Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Zelda: Link to the Past, Tecmo Super Bowl, Mario All-Stars, Mario World, Super Metroid, I mean do I really need to keep going? The list of games that, to this day, rank highly in the list of all-time best is ridiculous.
Now to pick the system I'm most proud to own, I would go with my Neo-Geo AES. The games are almost as big as the system, and the arcade stick controllers are great! Plus if I'm ever in desperate need of some cash, it plus Ebay = problem solved!
Props to the DC though! I still think that those controllers are the most comfortable ever!
I could go on all day about old school games... wait... I already do, cuz its my job! GXC represent! |

| I see no reason why it isn't possible to offer the entire SNES library on Wii Store. If that ever happens, SNES + GC + TG16 + SEGA = best old school system ever - even if you never buy a Wii title. |

System-wise it's a toss-up for me between the NES and the PlayStation 1. I know, I know: typical, right? But you have to admit some of the best games ever made came out for both systems.
My all-time favorite video game is the original Legend of Zelda. In fact, I just busted it out a couple of nights ago and beat it again, a ritual I have gone through at least three or four times a year for the last 17 years. It never gets old! |
