If there is one thing you can count on at E3 it’s that NVIDIA will be showcasing a new 3D video card. It’s usually a card that you can’t buy yet, but 80% of the PC games at the show are running (and relying) on it already. This year that card was the new GeForce 6800 series, a major leap forward in technology and third party manufacturers were already lining up at the door to deliver their own products based on this amazing chipset.
Leadtek was one of the first manufacturers to release their new line of cards, and as always they have several variations to fit the needs and budget of most gamers. The card we are reviewing today is the Leadtek WinFast PX6800 GT TDH, which is the PCI-Express version of the A400 we reviewed last year.
This particular card differs from the Ultra in clock speed and memory rate but the differences are negligible, making this particular model the perfect “next step” for those looking to graduate from AGP without spending more than $400. And let’s face it. You’ve seen some of the PC games that are coming out this year. Quake 4 and the upcoming F.E.A.R. simply aren’t going to run the way you want them to unless you have something at least as powerful as this card.
To sweeten the package, Leadtek builds upon the solid performance of the 6800 GT by adding a substantial software suite full of utilities, DVD player, and some quality AAA game titles – games you might really want to play and games that utilize the power of this card. The features and specs speak for themselves. This is one hot video card.
