  • The PSP is the first handheld system with the capability to actually reproduce console-quality sound and music. If you doubt me just jack your PSP into the input of your home theater rig. I frequently enjoy my PSP backed with 1000 watts of THX power.

But let’s face it, the PSP is a portable system and you’re likely going to be playing it on the go without a home theater in tow. And we all know the built-in speakers of the PSP are woefully inadequate when it comes to creating a pleasing or even audible listening experience.

Sure, your PSP came with those ear buds and they sound pretty good, but if you’re like me and a lot of other people, you might not like putting things IN your ears. And finding a comfortable pair of over-the-ear headphones that look as good as they sound is next to impossible…until now.

Logitech has once again come to our rescue with the PlayGear Mod headphones, and this premium listening device sounds so good, looks so cool and feels so comfortable you are going to use it for a lot more than just your PSP.

These headphones feature 30mm neodymium drivers that deliver unbelievable sound. If you match up these headphones with a copy of Lumines you are like to fall into a trance for several days. The frequency response and even the level of bass these headphones are capable of reproducing defies what I previously thought possible with audio technology.

And if the awesome sound wasn’t enough, let’s talk about comfort. The wrap-around design snuggly hugs your head, and even though they aren’t adjustable there are optional comfort rings that loop over the tops of your earlobes to keep the cushion foam resting firmly against your ears. This does a great job of keeping the outside noise out and the PSP sound and music in.

These headphones are also incredibly durable and even water-resistant to withstand rain and sweat, although you probably shouldn’t be playing your PSP in the rain. My only concern is where the audio cable connects to the headphones. This connection isn’t as reinforced as I would have liked and I have a suspicion that over time this wire may bend enough to actually break. But with a two-year warranty, I’m not too worried about it.

The PlayGear Mod is just an incredible pair of headphones that I would buy even if I didn’t have a PSP. They are extremely comfortable, sound fantastic, and are guaranteed to make you hear things in your games that you never knew were even there.

Get yourself a pair of these headphones and open up a whole new world of gaming and multimedia entertainment.
