EA Black Box Formerly known as Black Box Games, EA Black Box is a Canadian game developer, founded in 1998. Many of Black Box's employees have gathered experience on PC, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, SNES, NES, Sega Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast and PlayStation. The company's first title, the Sega-published NHL2K for Dreamcast was released in February 2000, followed by NASCAR 2001 (PlayStation) for EA, in September of the same year. In June 2002, Black Box Games agreed to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Electronic Arts. The team quickly became a vital development group for the EA studio system, handling franchises such as the Need For Speed titles.
