Chronic Logic was started in the summer of 2001 when it released its first title Pontifex. Pontifex was based on the freeware game formally know as Bridge Builder* developed by Alex Austin. Chronic Logic was founded on the premise that there is still a demand for simple, yet fun games, and the developers that make them. Chronic Logic has continued to make simply fun games such as Pontifex II, Triptych and Word Peace. In 2003 the remaining founders of Chronic Logic, Alex Austin and Josiah Pisciotta formed Chronic Logic LLC.
