Established on April 1, 2005 and formerly known as Konami Computer Entertainment Japan West, Kojima Productions is the brainchild of renowned game creator Hideo Kojima. Combining the strengths of Kojima himself with those of Kenchiro Imaizumi (Producer), Shuyo Murata (Director), and Yoji Shinkawa (Character Designer), Kojima Productions' main focus is development for Sony's multiple platforms -- including the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3. Projects for other systems outside of Sony's platforms, however, are not out of the question.
The company announced its formation simultaneously with its first three games on May 17, 2005: Metal Gear Ac1d 2 (PSP), Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2), and Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3).
