  • Have you been drinking so much iBeer that your iBladder is about to burst. Then Apalon has the perfect iPhone (or iPod Touch) app for you. Relief is on the way with Drunk Sniper, the first peeing simulation that makes full use of the motion sensing abilities of the iPhone to replicate the “art” of draining the main vein, bleeding the lizard, seeing a man about a horse, shaking hands with the governor, or if you’re Irish, parking a pint, while you continually get drunker and more unstable with each new drink.

Obviously, the best way to play Drunk Sniper is while holding your iPhone near your waistline. I’m sure Mad Catz is working on a belt buckle iPhone attachment as we speak. Simply tap the GO button and try to aim the golden stream into the toilet by tilting the iPhone to counteract your drunken stagger. At first it’s hard to tell whether you are aiming the stream or moving the bathroom – it’s almost as if the controls are inverted. But after a few tries you’ll be pissing like a pro, at least for the first couple beers.

I’ve played this app at least 100 times and I cannot get past the third beer. Nobody else I’ve shown this game to can get past two beers. The difficulty arc is insane and no matter how good I think I am I end up spraying the porcelain, the floor, and probably the walls halfway through beer #3. I’m reminded of that scene in Me, Myself, and Irene with Jim Carrey trying to deflect the stream back into the bowl with a picture off the wall.

Drunk Sniper isn’t much more than a diversionary app, similar to iBeer, but at least with this game there is actually a purpose and a high score list and a bit of incentive to keep trying, although after a week and a hundred attempts I am pretty much all pissed out, at least until some future update evens out the difficulty or offers some new game modes to bring me back to the iBathroom.

As far as presentation, you have a static screen with a nice 3D model of a toilet in a tiled bathroom. There is a small pool of blue water in the bowl, which will splash, and bubble realistically, but it doesn’t turn green as you add your own primary color to the mix. The sickly yellow stream will splash and stain the rim and the floor, and all of this is accompanied by realistic liquid sound effects including the initial drinking and belching. All that’s missing is some nagging female voice screaming in the background about the mess you're making.

At first I thought this app should have been free, but then I realized that I paid $.99 for the privilege of drinking beer on my iPhone so maybe $.99 wasn’t such a bad deal for disposing of it. As with most iPhone apps that are $.99 or less, you get what you pay for. In this case, Drunk Sniper is a great diversionary pastime and will certainly spark some conversations they next time you are out in a group, especially if you are drinking. I can’t think of a better way to piss away a buck in the app store.
