  • Rubik’s World takes you on a magical tour of the world of the cube and 8 amazing puzzles; you can even solve the regular Rubik’s Cube as well as other different sized cubes. Okay, the game is not the best thing since the Rubik’s Cube but it is a fun game and has a few interesting puzzles to while away some time.

You have a regular Rubik’s Cube to solve as well as a smaller and larger version using the touch screen and pen to turn the sides. This use of the touch screen works very well and is a great way to work the cube and a game, you simply drag a cube side and it will turn the section in the direction you move the pen.

Some of the other games also have a unique use of the pen and touch screen that works very well and is really worth mentioning. They have done a good job here of using both screens as well as the ability to move things with the pen that the controls work very well throughout the game.

The other puzzles are a rearrange the cubes to fit them through a series of walls called Fit which is a quick playing game that is fun. Switch is another fun game that has you placing five cubes in a row to make them disappear from your screen with the current cube the one you switch others to.

Roll is a really good game that has you puzzling your way through levels by rolling cubes to a goal spot, if your cubes roll off the level you lose. Roll is a really fun and complicated game that uses a lot of logic and planning to solve the puzzle levels.

Calculate is a silly math game that has you solving math problems on the fly by touching the screen at coordinates according to two math problems on the top screen. Create is another silly and quick game that has you creating small pictures out of the various color of the cubies.

Compose is a rather complicated music game where you can create music using the colored cubies and a piano like keyboard. Arranging the music and notes on the sheet music that appears on the top screen is a bit complicated but it does work and is probably the hardest game on Rubik’s World.

There are three multiplayer games on Rubik’s World that can be played between two players with the DS Wireless Communications mode. You can play Rubik’s Cube with a head to head competition to solve the cube in a timed competition against another player.

You can also play Switch and Fit against another player with the second player trying to outwit the first by changing the cubes against you as you try to solve each game according to the rules of each game. I did not get a chance to play the multiplayer games but did play all the single player and they all are fun if not exactly involved or long lasting.

Of course the solving of a cube will take some time for a few but the other games are also fun if you like these sorts of puzzle type games. The Switch and Roll games are the best and well worth getting the whole game for as they offer a challenge that will certainly have lasting appeal.

Roll is really a unique puzzle game that takes the ball in a maze that drops through holes to a whole new level while Switch is a fast paced game that can get hectic as well as fun to play. Some of the other games like the math one may not be for everyone and the Create is really silly but does offer something for younger players.

The graphics are well done, how could you go wrong with some basic cube shapes and colors, but they did do a great job with the whole scheme and touch screen as well. The audio is also very basic but well done with simple sounds and noises as well as some basic music for the game.

The game has some replay value but if you are not into the Rubik type games it may pale after some time playing, as it just does not quite reach that addictive puzzle game status. It is fun and you may find a couple of the games very fun but it just does not make it quite to the levels of a must have game.

Rubik’s World is a fun puzzle game starring the cubie, those smaller parts of the whole Rubik’s cube, and is worth taking a crack at. The game may not elevate itself into the class of must have puzzle games on the Nintendo DS but it is fun.
